Post by star eht Tue Aug 26, 2008 12:52 am

I need one

Edit by Doggles: Here's a tutorial by Relentless. You can also find a mIRC tutorial by 060 just below this post. Stickying. Thanks gaiz!

First:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

Download firefox. Install and PROFIT!

Second:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16

Go there. click 'Add To Firefox'. Download and install.

Then, Do the following:
In a tab (Or main page), type the following (or click the link):
irc://irc.partyvan.fm

Then, once you're connected, type the following lines in the first window:
/nick *INSERT DESIRED USERNAME HERE*

/nickserv register *PASSWORD* *EMAIL*

Now
that you've done those, Each time you open up irc (You can also add it
to your bookmarks by using the first link), type this:
/nickserv identify *PASSWORD*

Then, once you're identified, /join #quebec balloonchan
or
/join #fusion

????

PROFIT!

Tutorial to join IRC Empty Re: Tutorial to join IRC

Post by Aristotle Tue Aug 26, 2008 12:23 pm

Hai thar!
So I've learned the basis. I hope I can sort it out.
P.S. If you want step by step I think you should start by step 5 then check the other steps at the same time. It's just a what is IRC basis tutorial.

HERE'S THE LEGEND:
Underlined :
Things you'll see as you are doing this step

Underlined + Bold :
Commands to remember

Underlined + Bold + Italic :
Reference to another step

Bold :
Some important shit.

1) Download IRC. (no shit) and install it. Later on they'll say to register but you don't need too. Wait a bit and just press continue (oh shit).

2) (check step 5 as well because you'll need it also at first) Now you'll need a server. Click File > Select Server (in b4 alt + e). Click Add and you'll see Description, IRC Server, Ports, Group and Password.
-In Description you can just write irc.partyvan.fm
-In IRC Server you'll need irc.partyvan.fm
-Ports I don't know if they'll be some sort of number by default but eh, you can ask the others later ♥
-Group is optional cause I have nothing there
-Password there's none so fwee!

3) Now you have a IRC Server! YAY. You may now connect yourself.

4) Now you'll need to register to be sure that people knows that there's no fake star eht or some other Anon. You'll need to type this command /nickserv identify password e-mail-Identify will be the name you'll register as (here, star eht would be preferable so we wouldn't be asking you who the fuck you are :3 )
-Password is the password you need to type in everytime you'll identify yourself. Remember it.
-E-mail; though I'm not sure but if they'll ask you, just type your Anonymous/sock e-mail (anything works)

5) OKAY NOW YOU'RE REGISTERED YAY. Now here's the woopdidoo deal. This is the first thing you'll see once you've executed IRC: Full name, Email adress, Nickname, Alternative, Invisible mode, your Server, Connect.
-Full name would be the same as identify, no need to give all your sexy information. (gb2 step 4)
-Email adress is the same as e-mail (again, gb2 step 4)
-Nickname is identify; gb2 step 4 as well.
-Alternative you can leave it blank. Nothing important (I hope o_o)
-Inv. mode is just to remain invisible if you go with logic.
-Server should be written partyvan: irc.partyvan.fm (gb2 step 2), that's where all the Anonymous servers are. Change it if you want but it's better to stay there if it's for Anonymous conversations and shit like that.
-Connect is to connect into the server.

6) YAY HOLY SHIT YOU'RE CONNECTED, REGISTERED AND YOU NOW HAVE IRC. NOW WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU GOING TO DO? Well, actually I just did the steps in reverse but it'll help you. Now once you've clicked connected, do /nickserv password (only if step 4 has been executed) but lol wut, you'll see this pop up saying: Enter a channel name and click join. There write the channel with a # before the channel's name. IT'S FUCKING MANDATORY. Now there are many channels that you should know.
-#enturbulation is Enturb's channel
-#enturb is Canada's channel on Enturb but don't go there. They don't like us. Well I don't think so, but it's really Ontario, and other provinces. :<
-#fusion is a new channel for Operation Fusion. We're all there so COME! :3 There's sometimes other Canadian Anonymous that pops in, they're nice. Doggles and I are always there so MTLfags won't be alone in the dark (we luv you)
-#quebec is our channel but no one goes there. You'll need a password though so yeah, too complicated. Don't go.
BY THE WAY, you can also just type in the command /join #NAMEOFCHANNEL.

7) Now, there's lots of other commands you can do but I don't know all of them. So if you have other questions, you can ask me or other people cause I'm not the best at IRC so bais! ♥

8 ) ?????

9) PROFIT!

I know, don't click that. Like I said, wait a while and ta-da, THE CONTINUE BUTTON. Click it and it's free. FOREVER. There will be 2 messages, just wait. Both have Continue buttons.

Fuck Irc. I made a guide about this before. Let me remake it for you guys:

Tutorial to join IRC Empty Re: Tutorial to join IRC

HydraIRC

Go to the following link to go directly to the HydraIRC Download Page:
http://www.hydrairc.com/index.php?page=downloads

Scroll down to where it says.
Downloads
Binaries

And click on:
HydraIRC.exe
(Direct Download link for lazy Anons)
http://www.hydrairc.com/download.php?file=HydraIRC.exe

Install HydraIRC and run it.

You will see a message box appear that says "You have no configured identities, would you like to create one now?" So, click Yes.

The Preferences box will appear with a selection tree on the left hand side. Select User Identities and click New.

Fill out each of the four first fields and then click on Add after Nick has been filled out. Then fill out the last two fields at the bottom and click OK

  • I personally just put "Kirby" for every field 'cause it's my IRC nick.

In your first big empty server screen, type /server irc.partyvan.fm

You will see the Channel List window appear now. If you click on Populate List it will show you every single channel (even hidden and password) on irc.partyvan.fm

Select the one you want and click Join
If you're a command line person like me, you can also click on Close and type /j fusion to get into #fusion manually.

Once you're in you'll want to Register your Nick with irc.partyvan.fm's Nickserv.
To do so, type /msg nickserv register *password* *e-mail* where *password* is your chosen password, and *e-mail* is your chosen e-mail of use.
You are now registered with irc.partyvan.fm's Nickserv.

The last thing you'll want to do is look at the Owner, Admin or Op list on the left-hand side to see who has powers.
Right-click a name and select Query and ask to have voice so you can talk in the channel if you can not talk.

And there you have it! Enjoy your IRC experience!
